Syneox Rail, SL: The new consolidated entity of COBRA IS in Railway Installations
9 December 2022 marked an important milestone for the Group with the official launch of Syneox Rail, SL. This new company was formed through the unification of the activities in railway installations performed by three leading COBRA IS companies: Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, S.A. (Cobra Group), Sociedad Española de Montajes Industriales, S.A. (Semi) and Control y Montajes Industriales, CYMI, S.A. (Cymi).
The main objective behind this merger is to simplify the COBRA IS business and corporate structure by concentrating all railway activities in the sectors of power, signalling and communications facilities under one consolidated entity: Syneox Rail. The name “Syneox” is a neologism that combines “neo”, meaning “new” in Greek, with “synergy”, representing the union, strength and capacity of the companies and the team of more than 500 professionals that are members of this new entity.
Syneox Rail inherits an extensive portfolio of projects delivered mainly in Spain for clients such as Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (ADIF) and Metro. Its most notable achievements include the development, construction and maintenance of High Speed Railway Lines (HSL), Conventional Speed lines, Metros, Trams and other Public Transport systems. This includes the construction in Spain of more than 2,400 km of high-speed catenary in projects such as the Figueres-Perpignan and Madrid-Levante high-speed lines.
In addition to its national experience, Syneox Rail has an impressive track record on large-scale international projects. These include the Mecca-Medina High Speed Railway in Saudi Arabia, the Xinxiang – Heze – Yanzhou – Rizhao Railway Line in China, the extension of the Tbilisi Metro Line 2 in Georgia, and the electrification of conventional lines in Israel and India. They have also been involved in projects in Canada, such as the construction of the traction, power distribution and communications substation at Wilson Yard and the construction of overhead catenaries on the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (ECLRT) project.
