COBRA IS will build several transmission lines and associated substations for the flow of renewables in Brazil
COBRA IS, through its Cobra Group subsidiary, has been awarded Batch 1 and Batch 7 of one of the largest auctions in the history of the electricity transmission sector by Companhia de Transmissão de Energia Elétrica Paulista (CTEEP), promoted in June by the National Electricity Agency (ANEEL) of Brazil. Both batches provide for the construction of around 1,500 kilometres of high-voltage transmission lines and associated new power substations in the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais, Bahia and Rio de Janeiro.
The Cobra Group will be responsible for delivering Batch 1 tendered by CTEEP, which encompasses all engineering, supply and construction works for several 500 kV transmission lines totalling 1,092 kilometres and three new associated substations in the states of Minas Gerais and Bahia. It will also execute the works for Batch 7, including the engineering, supply and construction of two 500 kV transmission lines totalling 507 kilometres and a new associated substation in the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. Both projects will facilitate the flow of clean energy from future renewable generation projects in the north-eastern and northern region of the states of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, mainly from solar photovoltaic plants and wind farms.
