COBRA IS, through its Cobra Group subsidiary, has been awarded an electricity interconnection contract for wind renewable infrastructures, by Repsol Renovables the “green” subsidiary of the energy and petrochemical multinational Repsol, located in the municipalities of Fuendetodos, La Puebla de Albortón, Valmadrid and Zaragoza, in the Spanish province of Zaragoza.

The project encompasses the engineering, supply, construction and commissioning of several transmission lines of between 132 and 220 kV and the Canteras 132/30 kV electrical substation, which is needed for the transmission of the green energy produced at the 49.5 MW Canteras I and Canteras II wind farms, which are part of the Delta II Project, Repsol’s largest renewable energy project to date. The project includes the construction of the necessary evacuation infrastructure for future wind farms in the 450 MW area.

The transmission project will convey the renewable energy produced at the wind farms and meet the clean energy demand of around 225,000 households. The development of this major electricity infrastructure project is considered essential to Cobra IS’s commitment to renewable infrastructures, and is an active component of Repsol’s strategy for achieving zero net emissions by 2050.

Work is scheduled to begin in 2023, and the power infrastructure is expected to be commissioned gradually from October 2024, with completion planned for 2025.
